Be it dry or be it wet... the weather'll always pay its debt...

As April ends then - and with that the swifts arrive...

It's worth noting that on average, where we live, we would expect to have 'received' c.22cm of rainfall so far this calendar year.

But so far this calendar year, we've actually only had less than 15cm of rainfall.

Approximately two thirds of what we should have had.

You know the old adage.

"Be it dry or be it wet, the weather'll always pay its debt".

So.

Are we in for a soaking this May then?

"The drought""The drought"

Or will this May be as "scorchio" as last year?

Time will tell....

Thanks for the correction Filbert.

I actually make "the math":

14.8cm (rain so far) * 100 / 21.9cm (average rain so far) = 67.5% (so just over two thirds expected).

Something seems amiss with your rainfall. I don't think it's as bad as it may seem. East Berks should be about 65cm for the whole year. For the first four months including April - about 19cm. So 15cm is nearly 80% of what you might have expected in East Berks in a typical year - 20% down on the average expectation. Nevertheless I hope the wisdom of the old adage holds up. Old wives are the holders of all the secrets of the Universe.
